Welcome to Sauvie Island School’s Parent Teacher Club!  

What is the Parent Teacher Club (PTC)?
The PTC is a volunteer led, nonprofit fundraising organization that raises money for the support of enrichment programs for Sauvie Island School. It is our mission to provide opportunities and experiences for Sauvie Island School students that encourage them to grow into adults with a love of learning, a desire to protect the land and its resources, and a willingness to participate in their community.

Sauvie Island School is an Oregon Public Charter School focused on Place-Based Education. As a Public Charter School, SIS's state funding is more than 20% less than a traditional public school. Sauvie Island School frugally attempts to do more with less every year. The PTC works hard to raise the money needed to bridge the gap in funding. The PTC budget covers our Art and Music programs and teachers, and supplements funds for classroom supplies, teacher development, library and technology needs, garden habitat, field trips and more. We work closely with school administration and staff, as well as the school’s Volunteer Coordinators to provide a number of services including fundraising, administrative support, event planning, and teacher appreciation.

We are always looking for more dedicated volunteers to share ideas, get involved, and assist with the workload. We have a lot of goals for the PTC and more hands makes lighter work! One of our goals outside of raising money, is to help grow our community. Through volunteerism, we hope to bridge all of the communities that make up our student body: Sauvie Island, Scappoose, Portland, Warren and St. Helens.

All of us have something to offer in the way of support, and there are so many ways to volunteer. You could be volunteering in a classroom, chaperoning field trips, participating in PTC meetings, sharing a talent or skill, or donating to the PTC just to name a few.  Your contribution is valuable to the school, the students and your community!

When are the PTC Meetings?
Typically, the PTC meets the first Tuesday of each month both in person or via Zoom at 7:00 PM. Reach out to learn more about joining us at a PTC meeting or via email with your fundraising ideas.

Officers

The PTC is led entirely by dedicated volunteers including parents, teachers, and members of the surrounding communities. Anyone and everyone with an interest in the success of Sauvie Island School and its students can be a member of the PTC.
