As a public charter school, Sauvie Island School's governing body is distinct from our sponsoring school district. In alignment with the district, Sauvie Island School prohibits discrimination and harassment on any basis protected by law, including but not limited to, an individual’s perceived or actual race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, marital status, age, mental or physical disability, pregnancy, familial status, economic status, or veterans’ status, or because of the perceived or actual race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, marital status, age, mental or physical disability, pregnancy, familial status, economic status, or veterans’ status of any other persons with whom the individual associates.
The Sauvie Island School Board is seeking applicants for one Board member position as an existing member retires from service on June 30, 2024. The Board is a dynamic group of seven people dedicated to implementing our vision to be "The school of choice for families that is nationally recognized for its commitment to academic excellence and connection to community." We are collectively motivated to achieve our mission of "Preparing our students to define and achieve success." The Board position has a 2 to 3-year term commitment.
As a Board we listen respectfully, ask questions, gather information, and commit to a peaceful and productive problem-solving process. We see the best in people as we build and maintain community relationships. We value a broad range of perspectives and strive to maintain diversity of work/life experience, place of residence, and gender. All with interest in advancing our mission are welcome to apply.
SIS Board members are the keepers of SIS's place-based learning environment, and we invite you to learn more about serving SIS and the broader community.
